Anthropic's application page now reads: "Interest in the program has been far higher than we expected, and our current cohort is now full, so we're not accepting new applications right now." The October 6 announcement carries the same note, dated October 13.

Eligibility in the October 6 post: startups founded in the last five years or funded in the last two, with no VC needed. Anthropic's $7,000 figure was a year of Team at five Premium seats ($6,000) plus the $1,000 credit. Credits only work on the first-party Claude API through the Claude Console, not on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
Why Anthropic paused it
Three days in, the @claudeai account posted that Anthropic "underestimated demand" and had to "pause the Claude Team and $1,000 API credit offers," with "hundreds of thousands of applicants" being re-reviewed. Sarah Wolf, who leads startup marketing at Anthropic, wrote on X that the program received 21 times as many applications in its first 48 hours as in the previous five months, and that "we let way too many people in."
Anthropic said benefits that were already claimed stay with the companies that claimed them. Some approved founders reported on Reddit that offers they had not yet redeemed were pulled during the re-review.
