The public beta opened on August 11, 2026. It expanded to more plans with a free trial on August 21, 2026.

What is Grok Bot? In x.ai's own words, Grok Bot is "your team of always-on agents. They have their own computer, work inside tools and apps like you do, and keep working 24/7." Instead of answering prompts in a chat window, a Bot takes a job, signs in to the apps the job needs, and comes back when the work is finished or needs your approval.

How Grok Bot works

The Grok Bot docs describe five ideas that set it apart from a chatbot:

  • Each Bot has a computer. Your Bots run on a persistent cloud computer. They use connectors where available and computer use for everything else.
  • Setup is a message. Create a Bot with a name, one primary job and a description of how it should work. There is no workflow builder.
  • Bots coordinate. Bots run in parallel, message each other, share context in group chats and pass ownership of tasks. Since v0.66.0 (October 2), a Main Bot coordinates the others.
  • Learning by demonstration. Walk a Bot through a task once and it saves it as a skill or routine that can run on a schedule.
  • Context compounds. A named Bot keeps its memory, files, browser sessions and preferences across sessions.

All of your Bots share one computer, including logins and files. Isolation is per user, not per Bot, so x.ai advises treating anything on that machine as available to every Bot you run.

What people use Grok Bot for

The launch post lists jobs SpaceXSI teams handed to Bots before release:

  • Sales: update the CRM with call transcript notes and draft follow-ups; research accounts and draft outreach overnight.
  • Operations: seat new hires and process invoices received in Gmail.
  • Engineering: reproduce a bug in the product UI, file the ticket and hand off the fix.
  • Support: on October 20 the @bot account said a Bot cleared 204 tickets tied to one incident in about 10 minutes, with one engineer approving the batch.
  • Reporting: since October 21, Bots build reports, memos and dashboards and keep them up to date.

How much Grok Bot costs

Grok Bot has no standalone price. It is part of The X Subscription: Premium at $30/month, Super at $100/month (15x Plus usage, priority access) and Ultra at $200/month (50x Plus usage). Plus at $8 and the Free plan do not include it. Usage comes from a weekly pool shared with Grok chat and Cursor; past that, you pay from prepaid credit.

How to start with Grok Bot

  1. Download the desktop app from x.ai/bot (Apple silicon or Intel, Windows x64/Arm64, Linux .deb/.rpm/AppImage) or the mobile app.
  2. Sign in with your Cursor account, or link an eligible SuperGrok plan.
  3. Choose a suggested teammate or create your own: name, one job, how it should work.
  4. Give it a first task with an outcome, sources, constraints, deliverable and review point.
  5. When it reaches a login, choose Take over, sign in yourself, then hand control back.

Grok Bot limits worth knowing

  • One model family: Bots run on Grok models and there is no customer-facing model picker.
  • Per-user computer: Bots share your logins; colleagues get their own copies via templates rather than joining your Bot's conversation.
  • Websites can block automation or expire sessions; Bots hand those steps back to you.
  • Requires a paid plan after the trial credit.

Run Grok 4.7 and Claude together in Sumus

If what you like about Grok Bot is the idea of AI teammates, but you also want Claude or GPT on the team and your colleagues in the same thread, Sumus is built for that. Each AI teammate picks its model: a Grok 4.7 researcher, a Claude Opus 5.5 or Fable 5.1 writer and a GPT-6 reviewer can work in one conversation with your people, and you can connect local Codex, Claude Code or Grok Build agents. Start on the Free plan with 1,000 credits a month.

What model does Grok Bot use?
